One of my favorite things from childhood. A photo of my grandma and I. This was the last Christmas we spent together. She was my bestest friend ever! I love/loved her so. She taught me strength … And sadness. She was the rock of our family … Had a heart of gold and taught me to love inspire of the wrong. Enjoyed reading to two 5th grade classes today at Oakdale Elementary for Read Across America Day. I didn’t read a Dr. Seuss book. I chose one on the Greensboro sit-ins instead. The title is Freedom on the Menu. It felt good to share the story and the message with the kids. I told them to always fight for what is right and to stand up for justice. I asked them to pay attention to what’s going on in the world and to show everyone that there is still a good fight in today’s generation. Maybe we will see a new movement and new leaders emerging in our communities soon. #hopeful #pr4socialjustice #civilrights #lovethekids
